The 2018 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has quite an intense, well-defined nose, with touches of fennel and garrigues infusing the citrus fruit. Just a hint of melon surfaces with time. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, somehow, a little conservative compared to its peers. However, there is fine salinity and it seems to linger long on the finish. Very fine - Charmes with charm. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
